The best clubs check all the boxes — a great course, a welcoming and active membership, and a place to gather. Overlooking rolling fairways and sparkling Tellico Lake to the Smoky Mountains beyond, is just such a landmark, and it is magnificent. Designed by the team behind some of the country’s most celebrated resort clubhouses, Kuo Diedrich Chiu Architects, WindRiver’s will take its place among their many landmarks, including Lookout Mountain Club, Memphis CC (AOY winner), The Dunes Golf and Beach Club (GF winner), Camp Creek Wellness Center, The Landings Club, Balsam Mountain and Richland Pointe at Reynolds Daniel Island, Lake Oconee (AOY), Springdale at Cold Mountain (COY), The Club at Balsam Mountain, nearly all Club of the Year winners.
WindRiver may best be characterized as a club and community that does things without compromise – a passion for perfection – and it’s evident from the course, to the marina, the residences, and now, a remarkable clubhouse. A magnet for members sunrise to after sunset, there are three expansive levels opening to panoramic lake views, with fine and casual dining, inviting spa spaces, a best-in-class fitness studio and the well-appointed golf shop. A party barn and collection of golf villas complete a campus that brings the word perfection to full measure.
The architecture echoes the comfortably casual environment of the surrounding lake country, as well as that of our members’ homes. The 20,000-square-foot, is warm and welcoming, with theatrical lakeview spaces to gather – lounges and dining venues – as well as workout and movement studios.
The dining experience at WindRiver is always a blend of creative exploration and old favorites — call it contemporary farm-to-fork cuisine. The culinary team strives to cater to member preferences and surprise them with a new menu every week, based on what is fresh and that makes the most of our abundant local farms. Produce is from the hydroponics farm down the road – as fresh as fresh gets. An extensive wine list curated with outstanding varietals from the West Coast and the continent complements the seasonal menu.
Dining is an all-day affair at the clubhouse — where members and guests comfortably meander from the bar and lounge to the main dining room, and back again. The main dining room is surely the centerpiece. It’s an active and engaging space, anchored by a sleek two-story fireplace, with an expansive cantilevered terrace that spills outside with views that rival the menu, as well as a private dining room and wine cellar.
A lakeside, master-planned community on Tellico Lake — championship golf, a full marina and 30 miles of trails, minutes from Knoxville.
