The golf program has been rebuilt from the first tee to the 18th green, with new surfaces on tees, greens, and fairways, a new clubhouse and golf shop, and a Trackman Range on the practice tee. A full practice facility is planned. It was already one of the best courses in East Tennessee. Now it has the club to match.

Bob Cupp

The architect you know not by name, but by his work.

Bob Cupp spent 15 years as Jack Nicklaus’s lead designer, with Glen Abbey and Desert Highlands among the Nicklaus courses he helped shape. On his own he designed more than 150, Liberty National among them, and Golf World named him its first Golf Architect of the Year in 1992. WindRiver is among his best.

Practice Made Perfect

WindRiver’s driving range features a state-of-the-art Trackman system unlike anything most golfers have seen. Five radars positioned across the back of the range cover every teeing area on all three tiers, tracking every ball from every golfer at once – ball speed, ball-flight height, left-right spin, carry and total distance. Because the system isn’t tied to fixed bays, it moves with the tee line each day, so members always hit off natural grass rather than artificial turf.

Golfers can map their bag and finally learn how far they hit that 7-iron, play preset courses, or enjoy a quick game with family before dinner at the club. Members can also pull every ball hit all year, so you can see how lessons and swing changes are paying off.

Tucked just below the tee box on No. 14, Bootleggers Comfort Station is anything but your average snack shack. This hidden gem in the Navigator neighborhood feels like a mini clubhouse of its own, inviting members to linger between rounds with a cozy firepit, outdoor television, and an impressive spread of favorites. Whether you’re grabbing a quick bite, settling in for a post-round drink, or catching the next big game, it’s the perfect spot to relax, recharge, and enjoy a little more time on the course.

The course was the first in Tennessee to join the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf Courses, which sets standards for habitat, water, and chemical use. We’d rather earn that than a ranking.

The Golf Villas

The Golf Villas will sit in an arc between the clubhouse and the lake, built for golfers who want to walk to the first tee and the clubhouse. Plans are in design; register your interest and we’ll send details as they’re released.
